Our internship in Seefeld

Hi guys!

We, Selina and Lea, did our internship in Seefeld/Tirol. There we worked at the Hotel „Klosterbräu“ for 9 weeks and learned a lot.

Our first day at work was very exciting, because we were a little bit nervous and we didn’t know what comes up to us. But after a few days we already had settled in well and our colleagues were really cool.
We normally worked from 10 o’clock until 2 o’clock and in the evening from 6 o’clock to 10 o’clock. In the afternoon we always had free-time, were we usually made a little nap (the nights were too long). The main tasks we had to do were to set the tables for the evening and for the breakfast and of course we served dinner and breakfast for the guests.
What surprised us most was the confidence our colleagues had in us, because we were allowed to do many things on our own.  What we have learned is to work together as a team and to keep calm in stress situations. We are sure that we would recommend the hotel „Klosterbräu“, because it was a very good experience. The best thing was, that we made some new friends and therefore we will never forget our placement.

Thank's for reading our blog!

My summer in Tannheim

Hey everybody!

Today I want to give you an insight into my internship, which I made this summer. I worked for 8 weeks in Tannheim at the hotel Jungbrunn the first Alpin Lifestyle Hotel in the world.
When I arrived in Tannheim and saw where I was going to live for the next two months, I really was shocked! On the outside of the house there a was big hole and a real beauty wasn’t it either. But Anna-Lena and I had both our own room with balcony. The only things I had to share were the bathroom and the fridge.

The people were all very friendly and helpful, so if you had a question you could ask everybody (except of Sophie but that’s another story). Also the explanations were easy to understand.

During the eight weeks were many surprising moments, but the most surprising was that everybody thought that Anna-Lena and I are cute and nice (Haha). And Berta, our service leader, always told us to use our elbows.

The internship was a great experience and I am looking forward to December, because then Anna-Lena and I make our 9th week.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog!

My internship at Jungbrunn

Hey guys!

I will tell you something about my internship at the hotel Jungbrunn this summer. It was a great time and I want share some impressions with you.

Liked I say, my internship was at the hotel Jungbrunn in Tannheim in the Tannheimer Tal. It is a wonderful mountain area. The hotel is in the middle of a hill.

I started my internship at the 27th of June and it ended at the 21st of August. I lived with Annika in a little house and there we had one room for each of us and one bath.
Every morning we ride with our bikes to the hotel.
The first day we got our serving clothes: A dirndl for every day. My first day of work was very interesting, because all was new. But it was also a very stressful day, because you learned and walk very much.

In our hotel were lots of friendly und nice people. We had a good teamwork with all of them. In the hotel there were three restaurants: Grill, Wirtshaus and the Kulinarium. We had the possibility to work in every of these three restaurants.

Annika and I had the chance to work in the winter holidays in the hotel again. From 26th December to 2nd January. There were one big Galadinner at Silvester.

The internship was very nice. I have learned very much about the service and lots of other  things. It was a very instructive time. I totally can  recommend this hotel to work there.

Thanks for reading my blog and have a nice day!

Nice weather, nice people, nice work.

My internship in Mittelberg in the Klein Walsertal was great, but I also had to fight with homesickness. So one of my work colleagues said to me, “You needn’t be homesick, because we are your new family.”
As you can see, I had a beautiful view at the mountains. Looks a little bit spooky. I loved the rare storms with loads of rain, lightnings and thunder, so it could cool down a Little bit. Most of the time the sun was shining, so I could go hiking or swimming in the privat lake with the other hotel employees.

I’ll miss the time at the Hotel Haller’s and my new family who made my Internship not as bad as I thought it would be.

An awesome internship in Mellau

Hi everyone out there!

I read all the exciting blogs about your experiences you had in the internships. I’m glad to hear that you guys are fine. I had an awesome summer as well in my internship in the hotel sonne in Mellau.

Honestly I have to say that I wasn’t sure first if my internship will be a great time. The first days confirmed me my fear. The other waiters had all been from other countries with their own languages. Whether I didn’t understand them or they didn’t understand me correctly. But I knew that I have to work there for many weeks so I said to myself, that if I try I can make the best of it. And I was really surprised how soon this got real. I spoke to them in simple sentences and suddenly they wanted to learn some German words from me. Gradually it got quite funny. It surprised me how your own stance can change your mind. The person who impressed me the most was a twenty-two years old girl from Hungary. She had been working in the hotel for 2 years now, while her whole family is living in Hungary. And anyway she was always happy.

The main tasks I had to do were looking after the guests, bring them their meals and drinks und set the buffet and put it down again. In the evening I had my own station, which had about eight to ten tables. By the time working got really exciting. One thing I will never forget about my time there is the feeling when you see a smile on the guest’s face, because they’re feeling comfortable and good.

I’m really looking forward to read some more blogs about your experiences.

Yours,

Diana

Internship summer 2016

Internship summer 2016

Hello everybody to my todays blog!

I would like to talk about my internship I did for the past two months. Because I was a bit late with searching for a place to do my internship I took what I got – this was the Falstaff restaurant in Casino Bregenz. It didn’t look too bad in general, it’s not too far from where I live, has a good reputation and I even knew an apprentice before.

When I arrived there it wasn’t really as it seemed. Unorganised staff organisation, very inconvenient working times, and you have about 10 bosses over you who all think they have to tell you how to do your work.

But all together it was ok to me I was treated as a normal Team member – means the work was as hard as a normal team members work but also I was given as much responsibility as any other team member. It was very interesting to see what it’s like to be part of the service in a restaurant like this, after that I can definitely tell that this won’t be what I will do in future.

What was your guys summer like? I'd love to get responses.

This year's internship

Hi folks,

hope you all enjoyed your summer. I want to give you some insights into my internship this year.
When we started at our Hotel "Schloss Fuschl", we were very impressed by the way things were organised there. The Hotel was very old and pompoused, which perfectly suited to the landscape of Lake Fuschl.

At the beginning, we had our little problems getting to know all the employees and all the ways through the castle, but after one week, we felt really comfortable. Most of the time at our 9 week-internship we served meals and prepared the tables for lunch or dinner. Furthermore we learned a lot about food and drinks. Especially about wines because we always tasted wines before dinner started.

Lucca enjoying his day off! :)
During leisure time we often went swimming in the sea and we spent a lot of time with our working colleagues. Sometimes we made a trip to other lakes or to Salzburg which was very funny.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to other students because it's a great place to meet new people and learn a lot about tourism.

Cheers,

Dave

Our internship in the Dolomites!

Our internship in the Dolomites!

This summer Melissa and I spend our time in South Tyrol and worked there three months for our internship. We decided to go to the hotel Cristal in Obereggen which is 1600 meters high above the sea level. But how did we get to this Hotel in the Dolomites? Our Italian teacher recommended us this working place.

On our arrival we thought the time won’t pass because it was a VERY small village with about 90 inhabitants. Our first day at work was a little bit confusing because our work mate Alexander arrived quite late for work. The accommodation we stayed in for the time of our placement was part of the Hotel and it was quite a nice room.

The main tasks we had to do were bringing the people coffee in the morning and take away the dishes from the table. After having breakfast, we had to clean up the buffet and the dining hall.
Setting the tables for the evening was also part of our tasks.
In the evening we had to serve the dishes of the four-course menu and make wine service in front of the guests.

We learned much in our internship for example always being polite, punctual and honest. And you always have to be hardworking too.
We recommend our placement because the working mates and the hotel directors are very nice people and we were allowed to do a lot tasks.
So maybe you will make your next internship in the Hotel Cristal and improve your Italian skills.

Thank you for reading our blog and have a nice day!
Melissa and Verena
