I need to tell you something..

Hey everybody,

This summer I did my last internship in a little Italian hotel with Antonia. During the almost 3 months we spend on the little island many things happened and nearly everything I told to my friends but the one story I kept to myself. Even now I don’t know why I did it but I need to tell it to somebody. I killed Tobias, my new friend!

Tobias and I were like twins (he was the ugly one), we got on blind, knew everything about the other and never had a quarrel. Everything was perfect…until Tobias got sick. His nose was filled with Toilet paper so he was not able to breath.

For a long time, I watched him suffer, but then I decided to help him even if it was the hardest decision I ever had to make. I took my little axe and chopped off his big, ugly horse face.
Tobias’ last moments and his tragic dead are captured on a video which Antonia made.

I am very glad for the short time we had. I will never forget you (maybe).

Rest in Peace, Tobias!

If anybody is out there who can help me to get away with my sorrow, I would be happy about every helpful comment.

Thanks for reading my blog!

Fire with happy ending

Fire with happy ending

Hi everyone!

In my internship I worked at the front desk of the hotel Ibis in Bregenz as a receptionist. In my first workweek I couldn’t do much stuff on my own because the programs which are in use weren’t that simple for beginners like me.
Bildergebnis für ibis bregenzMy story I want to tell you happened at Friday in my first week. I helped Elisabeth at the front desk to check-in guests. Juliana was working in the back office and all the other colleagues were on an advanced training. One of the guests wanted to take his suitcases out of the suitcase-room. I went to open the door of the room and the only thing I could see was a lot of dark grey smoke. I closed the door as quick as I could do. I told Elisabeth about the smoke in the room. She was shocked and called the fire brigade immediately. The fire brigade ordered us to evacuate the whole hotel to guarantee the security of all our guests. Some minutes later the police arrived with 5 cars and the fire brigade with 3 big fire engines. I had to stay in front of the hotel and had to calm down our guests. In the end it wasn’t as dramatic as we thought in the first moments. It was only something defect in the underfloor heating, nobody got injured and after a few hours the smell of the smoke was also evaporated.

I hope you all had a great internship as well.

Things you didn't know about my internship on Tenerife!

Almost parched on a vulkan in Africa!

Today i wanna tell you a story you probably didn't know about my time on Tenerife yet. But I can tell you that this for sure has been one of the toughtest and most adventurous experiences I throughlived up to this point in my life. I'll probably remember this day forever but if you'd ask me to experience it once again my answer would most likely be a definie 'no'.

Let's start from the very beginning. My two best friends from Austria came to visit me for a week on Tenerife and that day we stayed at the beach, afterwards the two of them went back to their air bnb to have some dinner and pre sleep a bit. I myslef had to go to work at the bar/café at 5 o' clock pm and I've been fulfilling my tasks as a servant there until 11 o' clock pm when one of my friends came for picking me up.

We went to their air bnb where we woke up our other friend, had a smoothie and packed our stuff together. At 1 o' clock am the three of us put ourselves into warm clothes, tight shoes and left for the hightest mountain of Spain, the 3718 metres high vulcan 'El Teide'. Even the drive was quite a struggle cause the traffic regulations especially in the city were kind of confusing and complex.
But the ride in general was beautiful, one hour through the forest and later on the desert of the national park at night and we could see the almost full moon.

At 2:20 am we fairly motivated started walking. The temperature was okay and it was amazing hiking through this moon-like landscape while the moon and stars were shining bright. Around three hours later we arrived at the 'refugio' where we ate and drunk something. At this time we've already been rather tired, after some minutes of relaxing we continued and went for the peak.

7:18 am. We were honoured to experience a stunning sunset or 'amanecer', how it's called in spanish, after an exhausting last half an hour of climbing rocken stairs at exteme wind at roughly 2 degrees celsius. Newly energized we started our 1300 altitude difference climb down at quater to 8 am. Our legs were tired and the cool breeze of the night has been replaced by the merciless heath of the sun. It got worse and worse every minute passing and idiot me somehow forgot the second water bottle at home and so not a lot of time passed until we ran out of water. and food.

The heath was unbearable, we stayed up the entire night and have been walking for 8 hours now. Our state was changing between almost falling asleep, with our scarves slung around our faces, no talking and starting to go crazy of the sun and lack of sleep, thinking about newspaper headlines of our end up here and playing desert golf with a stick and one of the light vulcan stones.

Almost parching and starving we finally reached the parking space at 11 o' clock am and the path was a lot longer than we remembered. With our last bits of energy we reached the car were there was no water either but pears never tasted as good as the ones we ate then. For only one of us had a driving licence she had to drive down for one more hour hoping for her not to fall asleep and steering us down the edge of the road.

We had a quick stop at the gas station and were heading back to Puerto de la Cruz again where we had to give back the rented car. It was a true mess and the roads tricky as ever, her tiredness didn't make it better and there was no way we found the spot where we had to park the car. I was constantly feeding my friend with dark chocolate to keep her at a well mood but even that couldn't prevent her from stopping at the next best place at one Point and eventually having a nervous breakdown.

Calling the man of the 'rent a car' with our last reserves of phone battery we could manage to park it somewhere else and telling him where we are. With lots of chocolate and positive energy my friend and I managed to calm the other one down and walk home smiling again.

At 2 o' clock pm we finally opened the door of our air bnb and straight fell on the bed and asleep which we kept doing for the next few hours. The three of us had our long desired shower plus dinner and then we were laying down again for the rest of the evening and night, now excitedly talking and laughing about the adventurous last day.

I apologize for the novel-like text I worte but I couldn't tell this experience properly in 250 words, I hope you enjoyed reading this little adventure of mine and maybe you'll play with the thought of going on a trip to the Teide too if you'll happen to be on Tenriffe one day.

have a nice day or night!

xoxo

Internship stories - Caorle

Hey everyone,

we want to tell you something very funny about the summer of our life. We spent ten weeks in Caorle, a beautiful village near Venice.

One day something very crazy happened to us: It was a normal Thursday afternoon, the weather was quite good, just a little bit cloudy. Hungry as always – we decided to get some ice cream in the centre (a fifteen-minute walk from our hotel). We asked some of our workmates to join us but the only answer we got from everybody was: “Are you fucking crazy? A thunderstorm is threatening and you want to go outside? You can’t be serious?!” We just started to laugh and replied: “What you call a thunderstorm here in Italy is probably only a drizzle for us in Austria..”
And so we put on our summer dresses and went outside with one small umbrella – safety first
😉.
While we were eating our deliciooouus ice cream the sky was visibly growing darker. Therefore, we decided to head slowly back to our hotel. Five minutes later it started to rain and so we opened our umbrella. Suddenly we couldn’t trust our eyes as we saw how fast the sky changed from a grey to a black as dark as you have never seen it before. We felt like being part of a horror-movie as the wind got stronger and stronger. Everything flew through the air: signs, bicycles, sun beds, beach umbrellas and OUR umbrella… Seconds later we were completely drenched and the only thing we wanted to do was running to our room – as fast as we could. Few minutes later we arrived at the hotel and there we thought we are safe – but Selina wasn’t. A sudden gust of wind – so strong as we have never experienced before in Austria – caught her and so she fell down the stairs. Luckily, she hadn’t been hurt and as we get back in our hotel everyone started laughing at us. We stood completely wet and dirty in front of them and the only thing they said was: “Keep calm – it was just a drizzle”.

All in all we had lots of fun during the summer and we will go back definitely.

Thanks for reading our blog entry!

See you,

Trainee stories

Hi everyone!
I'm going to tell you a bit from my internship at the "Gütle" in Dornbirn-enjoy!

I have never known how stupid people can be. „Excuse me madam, there's no toilet in your restaurant?” “Oh no I’m sorry Sir, we all go into the wood to the big old tree on the left side”. I had conversations like these every single day. People don’t open their eyes. We have had a big toilet sign “to the toilets”. If you have to explain the same every two second, believe me you go crazy.

Once, I had a table with four businessmen. They ordered a Spanish red wine. So I presented the wine to the self-professed wine connoisseur. I did my presentation but that man just interrupted me, grabbed the wine bottle out of my hands and said “let an expert explain the wine to the others!” You can imagine how angry I was. From that time I hated him so much. He gave me the bottle back to open it for them. As I pulled out the cork from the wine bottle, I smelt that the wine wasn’t good any more. But I was sure, he would not recognize the defective taste. So I gave him a bit of the wine to try it. “Oh this wine is perfect, please pour my colleague some wine!” Can you imagine how hard I laughed internally.😂😂😂

Things you don’t know about “Lechtal Tourismus”!

Hi everybody!

Today I tell you something about my great internship in the last summer 2017.
I hope you also had a fantastic work placement!

First some hard facts. I spent my internship at home in a tourist office in the Lechtal. 8 weeks I was there for 40 hours in the week. In this time, I was assigned in the office in Holzgau. I had an own workplace with an own PC. My tasks during my internship were to answer mails, to help the guest further, to help my colleges with the service of the homepage and to inform landlords via mail. Also, I did some creating of folders and flyers. I could help at some projects and to see how such these things runs off. The best of this job was the variety of the work and the cake if somebody had birthday. 😉 I liked all my colleges, everybody of them was very friendly and had taken up me very well. Also, the landlords accepted me prompt. The managing director of “Lechtal Tourismus” is mister Kohler. He was really nice to me and I got a present of him at the end of my work placement. As well he took me to some of interesting meetings. He is really interested in the feelings of his employees and I think this is so important for a manager.
So, I had a really great summer and I would like to work again there!

Thanks for reading my blog!

My internship in Capraia

Hey Folks,

I spent my summer on a little Mediterranean island to do my last internship. I was very glad that had the opportunity to go and get some experience abroad. As I worked in a typical Italian Restaurant, I got to know many different fishes and seafood. At work, we had lot of fun, especially me, because I had the honour to ring the kitchen bell and scream "SERVICE", so Tobias and Ben knew that all the dishes were ready.

After work, Tobias, Ben and I went to "La Rive", or as we used to call it: “Fiesebar”. There, I’ve played table soccer with Tobias against the “Tschinkalar-Hood” and of course we won. The locals always called us “Calcetto-Maestri”, which means Masters of table soccer. After our epic battles we mostly were very tired and used to go to bed... But not on the 10th of August. We decided to drink another beer. A beer with consequences. We haven’t finished our drinks and out of nowhere our Fiesebar closed. That’s the reason why we took our “to go”, a mistake as we knew later. After 2 minutes of walk Ben and I’ve finished our drinks. Tobias decided to not finish his delicious Beer and gave the bottle to Ben who threw it straight down to the sea, like a real UWV (Umweltverschmutzer). Now you probably think why I wrote “a beer with consequences”, right? I can tell you. As Ben had the “brilliant” idea to throw the bottle down to the sea at a height of minimum 20 meters, he hit a yacht this bottle.
The only thing we did then was running. Gladly nobody was hurt and everything was fine, also with the yacht.

I hope you enjoyed reading, C U

Pyjamaparty with our personal manager

Hi Guys!

How are you? Did you have a great summer? We had a very great summer in Ireland and met lots of friendly people.

We, Lara and Anna-Lena, worked in the five-star hotel Glenlo Abbey in Galway. We stayed at a very friendly host family in Moycullen, a little village 15 minutes away from our hotel.

Two facts to understand our story: Our personal manager, Michael (you can see him in the picture), is the brother from our host father Declan. Declan have about 120 budgerigar in his garden.

One day our host family went to a wedding out of Galway. So, they didn’t sleep at home at night. Lara and I were very happy to be alone at home. But easy come easy go !

We planed the perfect evening. So far so good, we went to the city and bought some food and drinks for us. Suddenly the doorbell rang and Michael (OUR PERSONAL MANAGER) stood outside the door. We were shocked! First, we thought that he just will feed the birds. But then Lara saw that he had a bag with his pyjama in his hand. He wanted to stay at our home for the night! We thought it is a joke. But Michael said that he had the responsibility for us and didn’t want to leave us alone at home. So, we drank some drinks and ate our food with Michael, our Boss. After our dinner he went to the living room and switched on the TV. About 5 minutes later he slept very well on the couch and we enjoyed our nice evening (not) alone in our Irish home.

Thank’s for reading our blog!

See you,

Lara and Anna-Lena

My internship – things you dont know

The main thing I learned in my internship was how hard language difficulties can be. I was convinced that with English, as the global language it is, one can get away all around the world (especially in tourist destinations as Jesolo)! – As I found out, this was terribly wrong. In the apartment in Jesolo, I lived in for 10 weeks, I had 7 roommates and literally no one spoke more than 5 words of extremely poor English. As I totally relied on English as my main form of communication in the beginning of the internship (as I spoke about as good Italian, as the Italian’s English) this was a slightly unwelcome surprise.

In Italy the education system simply doesn’t support English or languages in general, the way we do in Austria or Germany. Especially in southern parts of Italy (for example Sicily or Napoli) school education is considered as kind of overrated and people start to work as early as possible. This creates a lack of work and a surplus of workers. Therefore, many young men (or women) search for work in middle or northern Italy as for example Jesolo, where in main summer season every helping hand in tourism is needed.

But in fact it was a blessing that I was forced into talking Italian from beginning to end, because for sure the most effective and fastest way to learn a language is to have no other option.

My internship - A thing you maybe didn't know

Hi everybody!

I think you all already know that I did my internship here in Austria by Voralberg Tourism. The reason I didn’t go abroad has been caused on the fact that I also did the first semester of the nationally certified ski instructor. This course took part in the middle of July, so it would have been coupled with great effort to go abroad straight after these two weeks. So, I decided to stay here in Vorarlberg 😊

Some days ago ORF streamed a TV report about four completely different scandinavian Bloggers and Influencer. They visited every destination of Vorarlberg for one day -  easily said: 6 days – 6 destinations of Vorarlberg. In the report they presented every blogger or Influencer individually. They also pointed out that blogging isn’t the “easy-going” job a lot of people wish to have. Of course, travelling across the world without paying anything seems very inviting. But bloggers have also a very stressful day – maybe you can imagine why.

But what have bloggers and Vorarlberg Tourisms in common? The answer is very easy. I have been the person who invited the scandinavian Bloggers and Influencer. I decided what they are going to do during their stay in Vorarlberg and I also booked everything they needed to have a great stay here. Of course there wasn’t only me which took part of this project but I was very glad that they gave me – the intern of Vorarlberg Tourism – the chance to do such a project on my own.

Thanks for reading my blog! :)

Our summer in Dublin

Hey guys!

How are you? How are things going? Did you enjoy your summer?
Lea and me, we stayed in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. There we worked in a five star business hotel called "The Fitzwilliam". We were working in two different appartments namely Lea in the restaurant for breakfast and me in the hotel bar. The Eire (irish for Ireland) is a country with beautiful landscapes, traditional pubs and thousands of legends about the irish history. There is just one big problem: as you probably know Ireland is a very rainy country so it's quite hard to stay dry outside.

One thing you probably don't know is that the irish people mostly don't have a laundry dryer and that was a bit of a difficulty for Lea and me. First time we had washed our clothes we put them outside on the line because our hostmum, Deirdre, wanted us to do so.
We trustedher and went for a walk to the beach. Just a few minutes later, out of the blue, we felt the first raindrop #classicalirish  and that was our sign to start running back and safe our half dried clothes! Actually, we were hoping that Deirdre would take our laundry in but when we arrived back home, totally exhausted because of our long run, our hostmum stayed relaxed and didn't understand our trouble. For irish people, it's normal that their laundry is getting wet twice after washing them.
So, we had to get used to this special weather and accept that our clothes were mostly double washed, from the washing machine and from the sky as well.

Well, we hope that you had a great time as well and more often bright weather than us in the cold north. Thanks for reading our blog and don't be afraid to write a comment!

Slán!

WHAT THE FAQ?! 2.0

Hi guys,
Have you ever thought „What the FAQ“ simply by entering your new workplace? For me it was the first thing coming on my mind on the 19th of June this year. That was the day, I started my internship in Vienna and so a new and very amazing era of my life. The company I have been working at during those 3 months is called friendship.is GmbH and it produces, plans and hosts events for themselves and for others.

Anyway, when I came at the office for the very first time I got to know the people and their way of thinking and working shortly. They have been joking with me the whole time. Humour and fun is in the first place and if I had a bad day, after a few minutes at the office I was in a better mood again. Nevertheless the work and the diligence suffered at no time from that. Those things have rather been supported by it.  This is something I am really happy to get the experience of. With fun and passion, the work is going easily and the results are always better.

To get back to the sentences “What the FAQ”. It is the slogan of the biggest event going on at the moment. It about frequently asked questions, as its name already says. During discussions, speeches, concerts and culinary highlights people from all over the world and from different social classes are trying to find an answer to them or to inspire the listener to think about it more.
It was a pleasure being a part of such an amazing and inspiring team!

Tell me more about your experiences abroad and during this summer!

Xoxo,

Diana

My internship - and my new enemies

Internships should be fun. You should meet new friends and not new enemies. Well that is how it supposed to be. Let’s have some throwbacks of my extraordinary internship:

Kind of everything happened while our stay in Caorle.

The bad things started happening during our journey. Katharina’s suitcase broke in Venice. Her whole stuff was scattered in the whole area of the train-station. A real mess!

Lucky us we met a quite nice taxi-driver who took us to our hotel. There we met our new colleagues and everything seemed to work out at the end.

One night some tini guests had been visiting us and we spent our morning with scratching mosquito bites. Mine turned out as big as a tennis ball that I had to go to the doctor. I should be lucky that I don’t have any blood poisoning, they told me. Well for sure I’m happy that I’m not dead but not having these red eruptions on my skin would be more comfortable and less itchy.

A lot of those insects die, when it rains. Gladly every second week the sun hide herself behind the clouds. One time we forgot to close our room’s window. The bedroom was filled with water and so Katharina’s and my laptops. They were soaking wet. Even Katharina’s bed so she must sleep on the floor for one night. Our worst fear was, that we won’t be able to switch them on. Fortunately, they weren’t broken and we could learn for our exams and watch game of thrones.

A lot more happened these days but I these are stories for other days.

See you Judy

My internship – Things you don’t know

Hi everybody out there! How are you?

My last few weeks I spent with working in the kitchen in the Biohotel Schwanen in Bizau. Generally spoken I would say it was a very informative time and I learned a lot about groceries and their converting (did you know that kohlrabi has a heart? I’m not kidding – if you don’t remove the smallest leaf from the vegetable, it won’t get bad for a long time and you can store it for some weeks – otherwise it well gets foul very far. So, the smallest leaf is called the heart from kohlrabi.)

But not only about groceries I learned a lot – also about people. The Biohotel Schwanen is famous for his kitchen and so a lot person suffering from an allergy visited the hotel – as well vegetarians and vegans. So, one morning a vegan woman was having breakfast – but she didn’t want to eat margarine instead of butter. That’s why the vegan guest asked the chef what she could consume instead – the answer was: maybe the vegan curd cheese would be nice. Of course, it was a joke but the woman walked to the curd cheese and had a wonderful breakfast - but not vegan at all. Anytime in the afternoon she recognized that curd cheese is an animal product and in the evening the women came to the chef again and was very upset. :D

In my opinion being vegan isn’t bad at all but you should be informed and at least know what is made from animal products.

I would like to hear from you too. Did you also spend a nice summer?

Yours, Verena

WHAT THE FAQ?! 2.0

Hey snotty brats! (please translate this in dict.cc)

Have you ever heard of the "FAQ - Festival" or even been there?
That's exactly where I worked this summer...ok not directly there but at the Bregenzerwald tourism GmbH where we managed the ticketing for this festival.

Anyway, I've got a quite funny story to tell you guys and our lovely classmate Diana will hate me for this. But as you know, I'd take every risk for my audience to give them the greatest stories!

It was the 10th of September, my last day at work, when I had (the pleasure) to work with Diana at the FAQ festival in Andelsbuch. Everything went fine, all the guest's got their tickets and we were having a great time.

Then he joined in. The master. The greatest. The god of graphics. The one and only: STEFAN SAGMEISTER (he was the lecturer). We all became a little bit nervous as we were shaking hands with him but that didn't matter because he was just so friendly and likeable. But then it happened: Diana, the boob herself, spilled her whole red wine over the white, expensive shirt of Stefan Sagmeister, a disaster. She couldn’t say anything at all, not even sorry. Mr. Sagmeister went crazy and we weren’t able to keep him calm. All the 200 guests were looking at us and saw that mr. Sagmeister stormed out the room and went home straight away.

As Diana was looking after Stefan Sagmeister I stood there on the stage and didn’t know what to say. Nearly every listener was throwing glasses and chairs after me even though I wasn’t responsible for this chaos.

At the end, all the people went to another show in Bregenz (I arranged that) and Diana had to pay all the tickets. Diana, thank you for being such an awkward, cheeky girl!!!

Yours,
David

PS: Maybe this text was written totally out of thin air.

Our internship - things you would never expect in a Miniclub

Hi everyone 😊,

as you maybe already know, we spent our summer in Lanzarote which is located on the Canary Islands. We were trainees in the department of Animation of the Hotel Seaside Los Jameos Playa.

Our tasks were playing Bingo, rifle shooting and archery with the adults, table tennis, volleyball and water polo with the teens and we were spending time with the monsters called “kids” in the Miniclub. And now we want to tell you stories you would never imagine that something like this could happen there.

Once upon a time we were spending a day working in the kid’s club. Daria was trying to help a girl with drawing a picture as she suddenly heard the “clicking” sound of the scissors...
Theodor, a 4-year-old boy from Germany cut her hair!!!
Now the hair is sticking on the “Wall of Shame” of our boss’s office.
The new Mona Lisa was born.

Some days after, a little fat girl went to the pool with us on the “Nemo’s Day”.
As we were going inside the Miniclub again we allowed the kids to play in the soft place.
A few minutes later, we heard two girls screaming at each other. As we turned around the little girl shouted: “I’m gonna punch you in the face, bitch!” – we couldn’t believe what we heard from a seven-year-old child.

But the worst thing that ever happened was the day of the 17th of July. As we recognized that it was smelling very bad in the whole Miniclub – it was too late.
A kid who was only 3 years old decided too poo in his pants. And as the mom sadly forgot to put a diaper in the pants of her child we had a disgusting accident.
And as that wouldn’t be enough, the boy decided to go on the slide – with the little present in his trousers.
So we won’t tell you anymore disgusting details…
You can imagine who had to clean up the whole mess.

Except these things, we had a really great time in Lanzarote and would love to spend a second summer there!

Daria and Corina
