AMANDLA AWETHU - Power to the people

Hi bloggers!

In the last English lessons we watched the movie "MANDELA: Long Walk to Freedom". The film was very moving, because it tells the whole story Nelson Mandela’s life. Beginning as he was a child and ending as he became the first black president of South Africa.

We think the most impressive scene was the Sharpeville Massacre.
The Sharpeville Massacre occurred on 21 March 1960 at the police station in the South African township of Sharpeville.
A group of between 5,000 and 10,000 black people demonstrated on the local police station against carrying their passports.
The white Sharpeville police took their guns and shot around 70 civilians dead.

What makes the scene so remarkable?

The dark colours and the moving of the camera makes this scene so powerful.
You see all the dead people and hear the quit sad music.
We were close to tears while watching.

We hope that there are still people like Nelson Mandela. People, who fight for their rights.
In the last time, women campaign for themself.
Waris Dirie, a austrian human rights acitivist, campaign for the genital mutialtion by young girls in Africa.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali made headlines with her engagment for women. She fight for women rights, too.
It's important to change something!

Violence against peace

Violence against peace

Hi everybody,

in the last three English lessons, we watched the film „A long walk to freedom”. The film is about the life of Nelson Mandela.
We think the most impressive scene in the film was the civil war between the black people.

The flash point for the civil war was, when Nelson Mandela separated from his wife Winnie Mandela. Winnie wanted to fight with violence against the white people and Nelson wanted to fight peacefully. Winnie hated the white people because they prevented the black ones. She said the black population should fight for their freedom.

They fought terrible with weapons and rifles against the people who wanted to close peace. Many people died because of the horrible violence.
Nelson said that the troubles only could be solved with peace. In his opinion, the black ones should forgive the white people for the actions they did to them.

Nowadays, the blacks are not discriminated anymore, but people from other countries are suspended anyway. At the moment many refugees come to Europe. But not everybody is glad about refugees in our country. Unfortunately, they are not accepted from everyone. In our opinion, we should give them the possibility for a safe life.
Think about that!

Have a nice day!

Fight for rights

Hey Guys,

Lately we watched the film "A long way to freedom" in our English lesson. The film is about Nelson Mandela and his life. It is a very interesting film, because you get a better impression from the way how blacks were treated in their own country and the long and hard way to the improvement.

The scene we liked most in the film is a very impressive one. You see black people fighting because some of them want to live in freedom with the white people. The others want to fight against them and want that the whites to suffer as they did. Everywhere on the dirty streets are hurt or even dead people lying.
But what is the most powerful in this scene is a little girl watching outside the window and see all the people fighting and shouting. You can see exactly that the girl was crying before.

Even today we have similar problems for example in Mozambique where the people fear a new civil war because of a political chaos. The consequence is that every day lots of people flee to Malawi.

That's very similar to the refugees crisis we have in Europe since last year. In Syria every day hundreds and thousands of people, have to watch how their family and neighbours are killed and hurt.

Have a nice day everybody!

The wrong enemy!

Hello guys!

The last three English lessons we watched the film “Our long walk to freedom”, which is about the life story of Nelson Mandela. If you don’t know Nelson Mandela, we invite you to read our blogpost about his life.

Nelson Mandela was a South African who stood up for the rights of the black population. He led the organisation ANC but after some troubles, he arrested for 27 years. His wife Winnie continue fighting against Apartheid. After some time Nelson Mandela got out of prison and in the same breath he succeeded that the black population was allowed to vote.

The most powerful scene in our opinion was at the end of the film, where the black people started a fight against each other. Some of them had the same opinion as Nelson Mandela, that everything is only possible with peace. But the other ones hold the opinion of Winnie Mandela and so they want war. This scene was very shocking to us, because by the time the black fight against the black. But actually the black one’s should fight against the white one’s.

Today on the 8th march, women all over the world fight for their rights. In our opinion, the people shouldn’t forget the disadvantage between women and man. This is kind of the same problem as the black people have had in the year of 1944.

"Freedom is never given; it is won."

Hi friends! :)

In school, we watched the film “A long walk to freedom” which is based on Nelson Mandela’s biography. He fought against apartheid and for fairness and rights of black people.

We think the most powerful scene in this film is where the black people started a civil war among themselves.

First, they protest together against apartheid, but then they weren’t of the same opinion anymore. Some of the black people wanted to fight with force and war against the white population, like Winni Mandela, his wife, determined. However, the others believed it is only possible to get equality if black and white people live together in peace, as Nelson Mandela said. Therefore, they thought the best way to resolve this problem would be to talk to each other. For that reason, the apartheid degenerated in a civil war between the black populations. They punched each other’s that hard, so lots of them died.

Unfortunately, it’s not over now. Of course, it’s not exactly the same as in South Africa at that time, but it’s similar in Europe. Like the white people didn’t want black people in their country, now some people don’t want refugees from Syria in their village. Many countries reject them back in their dangerous state, if it’s necessary with violent and weapons.

Nelson Mandela was president!

Hey bloggers!
At the last few English lessons, we watched the movie "A long walk to freedom" in our class. The film acts from the freedom fighter Nelson Mandela and his life.

We think the most powerful moment in the film was, when Mister Mandela became president of South Africa. The scene was at the end of the movie and was very pleasant. Nelson Mandela present himself as president and was proud of his title now. One day Nelson was in the house of the government of South Africa. Suddenly a man came into his office an ask him to come with him. When Mister Mandela leave the room, he heard loud noises in front of the house. As he went to the open balcony door, there were the whole people of the town and cheered.

There are also problems in our country. For example, many immigrants haven’t the same rights as people they are born in Austria. The result is that immigrant groups make protests and fight also for their rights.

Good afternoon and best regards,
Anna and Verena

most impressiv scene

Hey, out there!
We talked about South Africa 60 years ago. So, this week we finished watching the film “Nelson Mandela”.
For those one, who don´t know Nelson Mandela:
He was a man in South Africa, who fought for the rights for black people. He was a famous politician of the A.N.C. In his fight against apartheid, he used peaceful weapons like demonstrations. On his way to freedom, he got in prison for 18 years. While he was in prison, his wife take over A.N.C and fight with guns. Nelson Mandela got out of prison, because the whole world, wanted Nelson Mandela to be free from prison. Then he ran for president for South Africa.
My favourite scene in the film “Nelson Mandela” was at the very end. He went down the stairs and all officers, don´t matter if they were with or black, saluted their new president Nelson Mandela. Mandela winning the election was a very inspiring moment to me and the music the producers chose fitted it perfect.
Can you think of a similar situation? I give you a hint: refugees. They want to come to us, but nobody feels committed to do something for them. What we need, are new people who help minorities.
Think about that and have a nice week!

Hey Bloggers!

In our last English lesson, we watched the Nelson Mandela biography movie. It was a very moving film, and also historical very interesting. The movie showed Mandela’s entire life from his youth, to taking political initiative, being sentenced to 18 years in jail and becoming president of South Africa.

My favorite scene in the movie was when Mandela announced his participation for the presidential election. In that time, South Africa was in a civil war, and Mandela needed an opportunity to fight for the blacks rights peacefully. So he told his people to not fight the whites with weapons, instead they should vote for their own president.

I found it very impressive that Mandela protected the whites, which discriminated and mistreated him for years, from his own brothers and sisters. He was willed to leave all his own emotions and revenge out, to achieve peace for everyone. All his live he was treated unfair, got physically and mentally hurt and still, his will for peace survived.

I hope that in our world, there are still people like Mandela left. Our world is full of crisis, war and racism. We need people who stand up for others rights and care about what happens around them.

Just take a look around you. A recent example would be the European refugee crisis. Nobody feels responsible; every country just cares about their economies. In our society, money stands over humanity and that has to be changed. We need more Nelson Mandelas!

Think about it and still I hope you have a nice day J

Long way to freedom

Hi everybody

In the last few English lessons at school, we watched the movie “A long walk to freedom”. This movie is about Nelson Mandela’s life. We want to share our thoughts about the movie.

The most important scene for us is the one when Nelson Mandela was told to talk to the peoples straight after he became President. In the scene, the officers told Mandela he should talk to his people. So, he went through the parliament until he could see the crowd cheering and waiting for him. We think this scene is so moving because he has gone through so much (prison,…) but in the end, you could see, that he were full of pride and happiness.

This scene reminded us of the situations many women have to life with all over the earth. On the one hand, many women are treated unfair because it is tradition and on the other hand, it is at the job market. Most of the women cannot change anything at the situation.

However, have a nice day.

Black against Black?

Hey guys!

We watched the film “Long walk to freedom” about Nelson Mandela in three of our English lessons. It was a very moving film with many powerful scenes and now we want to describe the most impressive one.

At the end of the film, there was a scene where the black people started a civil war against each other. Some of them hold Nelson Mandela’s opinion, that it’s only possible with peace, and there is no other way to stop Apartheid, while the other ones had the same view as Winnie Mandela. They wanted war.

This scene was so shocking, because the Apartheid was “black against white”, but by the time the black people started to slay other black ones, just because they had another point of view. It degenerated in a horrible massacre, where also innocent children died.

A recent issue, which is similar to the situation in South Africa, is the refugee-crisis in Europe. In our opinion, it is unfair, that the Syrians are discriminated by some Europeans just because they are foreigners to them and they have another skin colour or religion. Many Europeans are just afraid of the Syrians and they don’t know how to handle the new situation. We should give them a chance to start a better life here, because when we were in their situation, we would also expect to be accepted in another country.Think about that!

Have a nice day everyone!

The impressive speech of Nelson Mandela

Film: Long walk to freedom

Hey there,

the last three English lessons we spent our time with watching the film “Long walk to freedom”. It’s a film about the life story of Nelson Mandela. And there was one scene we liked very much and now we would describe this scene a bit.

It was in 1994 when the situation in South Africa escalated and the black people who fought with Winnie Mandela wanted revenge to the white people but not with talking to them but with violence.

Nelson Mandela fought different. He didn’t use violence he only struggled with demonstrations and talking to the whites. And because he wanted that all people only fight with talking and demonstrating and not with violence he had an amazing speech where he said these things. The scene was filmed very impressive and the music was heroic so it’s a remarkable scene.

Today on the 8th march it is the international women’s day. There women all over the world demonstrate for their rights like the black people did it in the last century.

Maybe you also liked this scene and we are looking forward reading your comments.

Yours,

Verena and Melissa

Winnie Mandela's fight against the white people

Hey guys!

In the last few English lessons, we watched the film about Nelson Mandela. Then we discussed what the most impressive scene for oneself was.

In my opinion, the most powerful scene was, when Winnie Mandela instigated a tumult by the black ones. Although Nelson told her to not hate the white people, but forgive them, she hated them, because they took her children and her husband and threw her into prison.
In the scene before, the blacks were killed on the streets and were knocked down by the tanks of the army. Then she said that they should fight with their hands and they should throw the stones from the roads on the tanks. They constructed Molotov Cocktails to set the soldiers on fire, even if they knew; they have no chance against the army.

This scene reminded me of the situations the aborigines had in the United States of America, when they were discriminated by the British government in their own land.  They aborigines fought against them for example at “the Boston Tea Party”.

Conclusive, I think, that the movie is produced very well and the actors are good. The story shows you, that you shouldn’t give up your dreams.

Have a nice day!

Nelson Mandela - a long walk to freedom!

Hey guys!

In our last English lessons, we watched a film called "Nelson Mandela - a long walk to freedom". This film is about Nelson Mandela's life and especially about his fought against Apartheid.

For me, the most impressive and powerful scene was the last one. After a long time in prison, Nelson Mandela was released from jail and participated, with his political party, the ANC, for the next presidential election. He won it and he became the first black President of South Africa.
Straight after he knew, that he is going to be the new President of South Africa, he walked through the houses of Parliament to the balcony, where many people, black and white, waited for the new president.

This scene reminds me of Jamie Vardy. He is a professional football player and played for a non-professional club until he was 25. He fought a long time for a contract with a professional club. Now he is Top-Scorer in the Premier-League and is on top of the table with his club Leicester City.

Have a nice day everyone!

FIGHTING FOR ACCEPTANCE

Hi everybody!

In the last few English lessons at school, we approached a historical topic about a person nowadays everybody knows. He was born 18th of July in a district of Umata and fought his whole life for the rights of black people and against Apartheid. Because of his fighting he had been in jail for a long time. So, do you know whom we are talking about? - You’re right, it’s Nelson Mandela.

However, we wanted talk a bit about his very impressing film, which tells us a lot about his “long walk to freedom” – which is also the title of it. In my opinion the most powerful scene had been the ending where Nelson Mandela was walking through the whole big house for celebrating himself because he accomplished the goal for being the president now. The scene showed very perfectly that his thoughts were full of pride and happiness. In addition, the filming totally enhanced the energy of this scene. This “long walk” showed perfectly how hard this path was. Especially the last moment as he came out to the people was the climactic scene and the music really went well with it.

A current situation, which is similar to the one from Nelson Mandela, is that women are still unfair treated in eastern countries. They cannot do anything against it – because its tradition. They also did not have the same rights as others – and so today.

We hope that everyone will find a way to get on well with each other and live in a world where all types of people are accepted, no matter if they’re black or white, thin or chubby, poor or rich.

However have a nice day and we’re looking forward to hearing from you!

A speech to freedom!

Hi everybody,

Today I want to share my thoughts with you about the film “Nelson Mandela” which was very impressive for me.

I especially want to talk about that one scene, which comes to my mind when I think of the film. It was that one moment when Nelson Mandela was told to come forward to the balcony. Mandela, who has just became President, was sitting there on his chair in the president room when the officers requested him to talk to the people waiting outside. So he went on through the parliament until he reached the point where he saw the whole crowd cheering at him. I think this scene was so moving because he was released from the pain and the pressure at this very moment. But not only the acting but also the cinematography was just awesome.

Today, blacks are not discriminated anymore, but still we have to deal with similar problems. There are many peoples, for example the indigenous peoples, who do not have any right to vote or to say something. That’s a really pity because I think the humans should have learned from such bad times in the past.

Let’s things will go on changing the next 50 years too so one day everyone can live in peace and freedom.

Have a nice day everybody!
