Hey Bloggers!

In our last English lesson, we watched the Nelson Mandela biography movie. It was a very moving film, and also historical very interesting. The movie showed Mandela’s entire life from his youth, to taking political initiative, being sentenced to 18 years in jail and becoming president of South Africa.

My favorite scene in the movie was when Mandela announced his participation for the presidential election. In that time, South Africa was in a civil war, and Mandela needed an opportunity to fight for the blacks rights peacefully. So he told his people to not fight the whites with weapons, instead they should vote for their own president.

I found it very impressive that Mandela protected the whites, which discriminated and mistreated him for years, from his own brothers and sisters. He was willed to leave all his own emotions and revenge out, to achieve peace for everyone. All his live he was treated unfair, got physically and mentally hurt and still, his will for peace survived.

I hope that in our world, there are still people like Mandela left. Our world is full of crisis, war and racism. We need people who stand up for others rights and care about what happens around them.

Just take a look around you. A recent example would be the European refugee crisis. Nobody feels responsible; every country just cares about their economies. In our society, money stands over humanity and that has to be changed. We need more Nelson Mandelas!

Think about it and still I hope you have a nice day J
