Fire with happy ending
Hi everyone!
In my internship I worked at
the front desk of the hotel Ibis in Bregenz as a receptionist. In my first workweek
I couldn’t do much stuff on my own because the programs which are in use
weren’t that simple for beginners like me.
My story I want to tell you
happened at Friday in my first week. I helped Elisabeth at the front desk to
check-in guests. Juliana was working in the back office and all the other colleagues
were on an advanced training. One of the guests wanted to take his suitcases
out of the suitcase-room. I went to open the door of the room and the only
thing I could see was a lot of dark grey smoke. I closed the door as quick as I
could do. I told Elisabeth about the smoke in the room. She was shocked and called
the fire brigade immediately. The fire brigade ordered us to evacuate the whole
hotel to guarantee the security of all our guests. Some minutes later the
police arrived with 5 cars and the fire brigade with 3 big fire engines. I had
to stay in front of the hotel and had to calm down our guests. In the end it
wasn’t as dramatic as we thought in the first moments. It was only something
defect in the underfloor heating, nobody got injured and after a few hours the
smell of the smoke was also evaporated.
I hope you all had a great
internship as well.
Laura
